Excellence in Construction: Public Construction - Marysville Waste Water Treatment Plant Upgrade & Expansion – Phase II
By continually striving to find a better way to build, crews from IMCO General Construction made construction of Phase II of the Marysville Wastewater Treatment Upgrade and Expansion more efficient and cost-effective.
The upgrade—the goal of which was to bring the treatment plant effluent quality up to Department of Ecology requirements—included installation of 153 concrete piles, placement of eight additional sand filters, construction of an ultraviolet disinfection system, the retrofit of an existing concrete tank and a number of additional jobs. Project of the Year: Envrionment $10-$100 Million - Duvall Wastewater Treatment Plant
The City of Duvall was facing legal challenges to a self-imposed sewer moratorium instituted in response to rapid population growth coupled with limited treatment capacity at its existing oxidation ditch treatment plant. Also, effluent discharge from the treatment plan frequently exceeded permit limits, prompting the Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) to issue a compliance order requiring the City to construct a new outfall within the Snoqualmie River. The City’s goals for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Upgrade and Outfall Replacement project were to address these two immediate concerns as well as provide a source of reclaimed water for future use.
