Project Description:
The South Wall Reconstruction project consists of a new seawall, upland ground improvements and under pier mechanical upgrades for the Port of Seattle. A 140 foot steel sheet pile wall will be placed in front of the existing wood bulkhead. Known obstructions from the existing pier structure exist in the new sheet pile alignment and will need to be addressed. Once the sheet pile wall is installed both cellular concrete and compaction grouting technology will be used upland to fill void spaces behind the new wall, stabilizing the existing soils to a depth of 50 feet. The concrete pier and rubber fender will be reconstructed and installed after completion of the upland improvements.
